Civic Alliance Panels and Topic Areas

The following 12 Topic Areas have been the focus of research over the past few months. These 12 topics have been divided into 7 Panels with Civic Alliance members and a City staff assigned to each. Each of the 7 Panels has been meeting with various stakeholders in the community to discuss the current strengths and issues that exist within each topic.

PANEL 1
1. Transportation
Transportation network: the movement of people, goods and services from place to place; connections with surrounding region.
2. Infrastructure
Utilities and physical infrastructure, such as waste / storm water, water supply, fiber optic networks, etc.; streetscapes, including landscaping and lighting

3. Land Use / Zoning
Regulations determining land use, land use patterns and future development.
4. Urban Design
The design of buildings, groups of buildings, spaces and landscapes in relation to each other.

5. Environmental Management
Management and preservation of natural resources; brown field redevelopment; issues of environmental justice.
6. Parks & Open Space
The parks system; recreational activities and infrastructure; recreational trails; public open space.
